Proper positioning of your affiliate banners and text links can spell the difference between just a few clicks and sales and a virtual flood of clicks and sales. Graphical banners, although not right for every website, should be placed "above the fold". In other words, make sure visitors to your site don't have to scroll down to see them. The average visitor will scan the visible portion of your web page in about 5 seconds or less. Larger banners do capture more attention, but 1&1 provides you with a smaller version as well in order to accommodate a variety of page styles.

Affiliate text links can be integrated into content very easily, and will often have a much higher click rate (and sales conversion rate). This is because your site visitors are reading content and the link simply provides them with more information. Even if your site is not focused on technology or hosting, your visitors might be interested in knowing who you bought your domain and hosting from. We see this kind of content in the 'About Us' section of websites, or in blog postings about the history of a site's development. At the very least, a simple 'Hosting trusted to 1&1' text at the bottom of your site’s pages will let your visitors know that you are recommending 1&1 for their needs, too.

Q: Can I buy a new product for my self with my own affiliate link?
A: Yes! As long as you do not abuse our affiliate system buy buying thousands of domains one at a time, we know that you will often need to build more sites and need additional hosting or domains. These additional sites or domains also give you more "real estate" on which you can imbed your 1&1 affiliate link.

Q: I have an idea about a way I can promote 1&1 offline using a redirecting subdomain URL, is this allowed?
A: Using a subdomain which redirect to 1&1 (using your tracking link of course) is permitted. For example, http://1and1.mydomain.com is a much shorter URL and is easy to remember. This kind of URL can be sent to your contacts via email or even written down offline when making personal verbal referrals.
