The Unspoken Secrets of True Web Traffic Success – PART 1
By Dearl Miller from Nitro Marketing

Today you’re going to learn 3 things about web traffic no one else will dare tell you.

These are the real secrets of web marketing…the 3 things that, if you learn and apply them to everything you do, they’ll virtually guarantee your success online.

No fluff, no marketing mumbo-jumbo…just straight-talk about what it really takes to get more traffic to your site and make more money as a 1&1 affiliate.

Here you go…

Unspoken Traffic Secret #1 - Never ever (ever!) waste your time “Creating Traffic”.

If you want to get more traffic, never fall into the trap of trying to create it yourself. Instead simply figure out where the traffic already is, tap into it, and siphon their most profitable customer back to your own website and on to your email list.

Why? Because it’s fast, easy and extremely profitable

How Fast & Profitable? I make over $100K every year from this one tactic alone.

But notice I said “customers”…not visitors. It’s a small but important distinction.

If you are a web-marketing mastermind who’s supremely adept at the dark art of online sales conversion, then go for “visitors”. But for the rest of us, simply pluck the sugar sweet, low-hanging online fruit that proven customers truly are.

In fact, I’d trade 100 visitors for 1 happy customer.

Here are 3 quick and easy ways you can apply this lesson to your own marketing:

Create a bonus for another product – Customers love bonuses because they get more value when they make a purchase. Merchants love bonuses because it improves their conversion rate. And you’ll love bonuses because they give you easy, profitable access to proven customers. Simple write an eBook or create a software tool that adds value to someone else’s product and let them give it to all their customers for free. This could be a simple 7-10 page PDF document covering a topic the original product missed, or even be as simple as a spreadsheet that helps buyers implement lessons from the product.

A classic example of this tactic is Trafficology’s Web Traffic Explosion course that is offered as a bonus to Mark Joyner’s Best-Selling Book Simpleology… see it live here: http://www.Trafficology.com/trafficexplosion

Tap Into Unused Virtual Real-Estate – There are dozens of places on every website that almost every web marketer neglects…places that, if you know where they are, you can tap into and drive their customers back to your own site.

The classic example is the “Thank You Page”. This is the page that appears after someone joins your email list or purchases a product. Most sites simply say “Thank You” or provide a few details about the product or service just purchased. This is a missed opportunity. Instead if the owner of the site simply placed a recommendation for another product or service (such as 1&1) then they’ll instantly create a massive amount of additional revenue with absolutely no extra cost – pure profit!

Another chunk of virtual real estate almost every web marketer neglects is their auto-responder series…especially their new customer autoresponder. Typically most merchants send just 1 (or at most 2) emails to people who’ve just purchased a product.

These messages typically thank buyers for their purchase…and unfortunately that’s it.

Merchants could make an enormous amount of extra profits per customer if they just spent a few extra hours writing up a series of emails to be sent out over time that teaches buyers how to properly use the product, building up a deeper relationship with each customers and recommending other products or services customers would also be interested in – but the fact is, very few do.

So to make more money, first of all tighten up your own marketing, identify all the unused virtual real estate on your site and develop a strategy to maximize the revenue from them (such as recommending 1&1). Secondly, look at other popular sites in your niche and at the sites of other marketers you know. Reach out to them and help them better monetize their own virtual real estate. For example, you could offer to improve their welcome email series in exchange for using your 1&1 affiliate link in the messages. Or you could offer a bonus to drive customers back to your own email list and then send them multiple recommendations for 1&1.

Contribute Content to Membership sites, Blogs, Magazines and Newsletters – Businesses with recurring publications like Membership Sites, Blogs, Magazines and Print Newsletters are always looking for great content to publish. A quick, profitable way for you to take advantage of this is by writing high-quality how-to articles and submitting them for publication. For example, you could write an article about how to pick the best web hosting company and then recommend 1&1 using your affiliate link. If your article is well written and a good match for the publications audience then they’ll be glad to publish it for you…in fact some publications (like Trafficology.com) will even pay for your article.

There you go…3 great ways you can immediately tap into already existing sources of traffic, siphon it over to your own site and make even more 1&1 affiliate commissions.

Unspoken Traffic Secret #2 - If you’re not feelin’ it, your failing

Passion is such as huge part of web marketing that, if you don’t absolutely love what you’re doing, then you’re doing something wrong.

The bottom line is, there are fun ways to build a web business and then there’s work. If you’re working and you’re struggling, then you need to find a different way to do it.

Even the most stubborn, persistent person in the world can only grind it out for so long.
If you’re just going through the motions your visitors (if you have any) will know it.

There are too many fun, exciting and rewarding opportunities online to waste your time toiling away doing something you hate. There are dozens of fun and free ways to drive traffic to your site (which I’ll reveal next month) so figure out which ones you love and let your passion and vision energize your life and super-charge your affiliate sales.

Unspoken Traffic Secret #3: It’s all about the “O”

I call it “The Great Web Traffic Debate: Creation vs. Conversion”. Over the last 10 years fellow Trafficology members and top web marketers have weighted in on what is more important…getting people to your site or turning the browsers on your site into buyers.

It really is a “chick and the egg” conundrum. And for nearly a decade I’ve ruled there are just two-sides to the same coin…to be profitable, you can’t have one without the other.

But…one realization completely changed my POV: Conversion actually creates Traffic.

What?

Yes, it’s hard to believe until you see it…but it’s true. The process of optimizing your conversion rate and lifetime customer value actually creates new sources of traffic many people have never even heard of.

In fact, if you own a highly optimized site with a proven conversion and monetization process, then the people in your niche who already have all the traffic will find you.

Now…obviously you need to have a little traffic at first in order to optimize your site. But that’s easily generated via Pay-Per-Click or SEO. And I’m not saying you should spend your whole life trying to build the ultimate conversion machine. But if you’re sitting there asking yourself, should I spend more time on driving more traffic to my site or on improving the conversion rate, then to me the answer is obvious….

Figure out how to get more visitors to opt-in, build a stronger bond with your list, get more people to buy front end products…and get current customers to buy again.

Your list of current customers is often one of the most overlooked source of high quality, highly profitable traffic. By optimizing both your front and backend sales processes you’ll have significantly more buyers from the traffic you already have…and each one will put substantially more money in your pocket.

So there you go…the 3 keys to Web Marketing Success that you’ll never hear anyone say out-loud (well 2 out of 3 anyways). If you take these guiding principles and apply them to everything you do, you’ll soon be living the coveted “Internet Lifestyle” too.

Enjoy!

Questions & Answers from our readers.

Q: I cannot seem to figure out how to place one of your banners on my Myspace page. How do I do this?
A: You actually cannot. Due to agreements that they have with their own advertisers, Myspace and other social networking sites will block outside affiliate banners.

Q: I forgot to update my contact information on my 1&1 account; will this keep me from being able to earn commissions?
A: Yes, you must keep the information on your 1&1 account up to date to be eligible for commission payouts. You should periodically check to make sure your mailing information, email and billing information is all current.

Q: Do I have to fill out tax forms for the IRS for my affiliate earnings?
A: Yes, but…1&1 is required to report to the IRS all affiliates who have received over $600 in earnings in 2007. If you receive a request to provide us with a W-9 or W-8 form, you MUST provide this to us in order to continue earning from our program. You should consult a tax advisor on your own reporting requirements. Please read our Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions for other special requirements of our Program.
